Yay! I've been looking forward to this!

Am I in a some weird parallel universe of something..

When on earth did that happen????

Am so behind on well everything by the looks of it!
Quoting: TriasIt happened just last month, apparently. Loosing billions in brand value in the process, of course...
Apparently the mobile app also now has the slogan "Blaze Your Glory!", which has a real childish-early-2000s-tryhard-wannabe twang to it.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart update includes a fix for Linux gamers

This brings a big smile to my face. There's a long game being played here, pushed by Valve, and this sort of thing is where it all begins.

ProtonDB now has filters for PC and Steam Deck reports

Quoting: whizseThankfully though, Proton support is so comprehensive I take it for granted. In the last sale I actually forgot the check the games bought beforehand. Unsurprisingly, they all worked.
I did this too but had one that wouldn't work right off the bat (d'oh, my bad!), but found a workaround on ProtonDB.

Happy Debian Day - going 30 years strong

QuoteThis might make some readers feel old: I was only 5 years old when that announcement was made. Even during my 35 years I've seen the Linux desktop and Linux gaming go through many huge changes.
I was about 10, but I wouldn't learn of Linux until I was 16 or 17.

I've always clicked the best with Debian-derived distros, so Happy Debian Day! I'm grateful for all that it's brought us.

ProtonDB now has filters for PC and Steam Deck reports

Good to see - ProtonDB is my first go-to for ratings*, and also for user-tips to get slightly-problematic games to behave themselves.

*Not just for desktop Linux, either, but for my future Steam Deck as well, since we all know by now that Valve's Steam Deck compatibility-ratings aren't always accurate.

Comic book adventure Penny Larceny: Gig Economy Supervillain is out now

Oh my goodness, this is exactly my sort of thing - and Penny's like the anti-Ace Attorney! I love how it builds on the visual style of that very famous example of the visual-novel genre, whilst presenting inverted goals - villains and anti-heroes are usually fun characters. That theme-song is most excellent, too!

Want want want!

Heart of the Machine from Arcen Games dropping Native Linux for Proton
15 August 2023 at 10:36 am UTC Likes: 1

Quoting: DMJCLinux native gaming is basically dead. Even the big boys like ID software don't bother supporting it anymore. Emulation seems to be the developer's choice. Most of the native games are community ports of sourcecode releases or fan remakes of older
popular AAA games.
Quoting: KlaasThat's a very weird statement since it seems to imply that this is a recent development. ID software stopped supporting native Linux before the release of Rage with John Carmack stating that wine support was getting good enough so that native release wouldn't be necessary anymore. Note: Rage was released 2011. Back then wine was not as good as it is now and the direct x translation dlls did not exist.
And Microsoft owns id Software these days, so there's that, too...

Celebrate QuakeCon and Quake II Remastered with this Steam Sale

QuoteDoom (1993): steam deck Unsupported, but Valve just needs to get on re-examining that rating because it performs like it's steam deck Verified.

This shares the predominant case in the "Unsupported" category: "Valve is still working on adding support for this game on Steam Deck" - which usually means "it works". According to CheckMyDeck, that's the reason for 2273 of 3174 "Unsupported" games. There's games in this state for a long time, I'd say a year. @Liam, could you find out more about this? @Smellbringer, this is smelly, ain't it? ;)
I've seen it speculated that this might be because of issues if you choose to launch the MS-DOS version, but this seems odd because Doom II is Steam Deck Verified and that has the same features. Very confusing!
